DTC P1705 (Flash Code 5): A/T Gear Position Switch (Short)
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE:
DTC P1705 is set when PCM receives 2 gear position signals at same time.
- Turn ignition on. If any A/T gear position indicator light stays on when gear selector is moved from that gear, go to next step. If all A/T gear position indicator lights go off when gear selector is moved from that gear, system is okay at this time. Fault that set code is intermittent.
- Shift to all gear positions except Reverse. Using DVOM, measure voltage between PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 9 (Black/Red wire) or No. 22 (Brown/Black wire) and PCM 25-pin connector "B" terminal No. 16 (Green/Red wire). See Figure and Figure . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check and repair short in Green/Red wire between PCM 25-pin connector "B" and A/T gear position indicator or A/T gear position switch. If Green/Red wire is okay, check for loose PCM connectors and replace PCM with known good part, as necessary.
- Shift to all gear positions except Neutral and Park. Measure voltage between PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 9 (Black/Red wire) or No. 22 (Brown/Black wire) and PCM 25-pin connector "B" terminal No. 25 (Light Green wire). If about 5 volts is present, go to next step. If about 5 volts is not present, check and repair short in Light Green wire between PCM 25-pin connector "B" and A/T gear position indicator or A/T gear position switch. If Light Green wire is okay, check for loose PCM connectors and replace PCM with known good part, as necessary.
- Shift to all gear positions except "D4". Measure voltage between PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 9 (Black/Red wire) or No. 22 (Brown/Black wire) and PCM 25-pin connector "B" terminal No. 24 (Green/Black wire). If about 5 volts is present, go to next step. If about 5 volts is not present, check and repair short in Green/Black wire between PCM 25-pin connector "B" and A/T gear position switch. If Green/Black wire is okay, check for loose PCM connectors and replace PCM with known good part, as necessary.
- Shift to all gear positions except "D". Measure voltage between PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 9 (Black/Red wire) or No. 22 (Brown/Black wire) and PCM 25-pin connector "B" terminal No. 8 (Green/Blue wire). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check and repair short in Green/Blue wire between PCM 25-pin connector "B" and A/T gear position indicator or A/T gear position switch. If Green/Blue wire is okay, check for loose PCM connectors and replace PCM with known good part, as necessary.
- Shift to all gear positions except "2". Measure voltage between PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 9 (Black/Red wire) or No. 22 (Brown/Black wire) and PCM 25-pin connector "B" terminal No. 17 (Green/Yellow wire). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check and repair short in Green/Yellow wire between PCM 25-pin connector "B" and A/T gear position indicator or A/T gear position switch. If Green/Yellow wire is okay, check for loose PCM connectors and replace PCM with known good part, as necessary.
- Shift to all gear positions except "1". Measure voltage between PCM 32-pin connector "A" terminal No. 9 (Black/Red wire) or No. 22 (Brown/Black wire) and PCM 25-pin connector "B" terminal No. 18 (Light Green/White wire). If battery voltage is present, check for loose PCM connectors and replace PCM with known good part, as necessary. If battery voltage is not present, check and repair short in Light Green/White wire between PCM 25-pin connector "B" and A/T gear position indicator or A/T gear position switch. If Light Green/White wire is okay, check for loose PCM connectors and replace PCM with known good part, as necessary.
