Control Unit Test (Driver's)

  1. Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument panel lower left cover. Remove left knee bolster. Remove underdash fuse/relay box, located near left kick panel.
  2. Remove driver's multiplex control unit from underdash fuse/relay box. Ensure connector and socket terminals are okay. Repair as necessary and retest system. If connector and terminals are okay, using a DVOM, perform control unit input test as indicated. See Fig 1 . If an input test indicates a problem, find and correct cause and retest system. If all input test results are okay, replace faulty multiplex communications control unit.
