Control Unit Test (Driver's)
- Disable air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM
article. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument panel lower left cover. Remove left knee bolster. Remove underdash fuse/relay box, located near left kick panel.
- Remove driver's multiplex control unit from underdash fuse/relay box. Ensure connector and socket terminals are okay. Repair as necessary and retest system. If connector and terminals are okay, using a DVOM, perform control unit input test as indicated. See Fig 1
. If an input test indicates a problem, find and correct cause and retest system. If all input test results are okay, replace faulty multiplex communications control unit.
