Test C: TCS Indicator Light Does Not Come On
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Start engine. If TCS indicator light comes on and stays on, go to TCS INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF & NO DTCS ARE STORED . If TCS indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Restart engine. If brake system indicator light came on, go to next step. If brake system indicator light did not illuminate, replace BACK UP LIGHT fuse (7.5-amp), repair open in Yellow wire between gauge assembly and fuse, or open circuit in driver's underdash fuse/relay box.
- Check TCS indicator light bulb in gauge assembly. If bulb is blown, replace bulb. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
- Connect fused jumper wire between ground and gauge assembly 22-pin connector "B" terminal No. 18 (Red/White wire) by backprobing. See Figure . If TCS indicator light comes on, go to next step. If TCS indicator light does not illuminate, replace printed circuit board in gauge assembly. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Remove fused jumper wire. Connect fused jumper wire between ground and ABS/TCS control unit 16-pin connector "B" terminal No. 16 (Red/White wire) by backprobing. If TCS indicator light comes on, go to next step. If TCS indicator light does not illuminate, repair open in Red/White wire between gauge assembly and ABS/TCS control unit.
- Remove fused jumper wire. Connect fused jumper wire between ground and ABS/TCS control unit 12-pin connector "C" terminal No. 2 (Black wire) by backprobing. If TCS indicator light comes on, repair open in Black wire between ABS/TCS control unit and ground. Ground point is located at thermostat housing. If TCS indicator light does not illuminate, check ABS/TCS control unit connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair connector(s). If problem does not exist, replace ABS/TCS control unit with known-good ABS/TCS control unit and retest system.
