Crankshaft Position/Top Dead Center/Cylinder Position (CKP/TDC/CYP) Sensor
Each sensor generates a separate signal whether grouped together or separate. CKP sensor determines fuel injection timing and ignition of each cylinder and detects engine speed. TDC sensor determines ignition timing at start-up (cranking) and detects when crankshaft position signal is abnormal. On Civic, TDC sensor detects position of cylinder No. 1 for sequential fuel injection to each cylinder. CYP sensor detects position of cylinder No. 1 for sequential fuel injection to each cylinder. On Accord 3.0L, Insight, Odyssey and S2000, the CYP sensor has been replaced with a second TDC sensor. Civic does not use a CYP sensor.
