Test A: Abs Indicator Light Does Not Come On

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS indicator light comes on, then goes out after 2 seconds (proves out), system is okay. If ABS indicator light comes on and does not turn off, see ABS INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT TURN OFF & NO DTCS ARE STORED  .
  2. Turn ignition off, then turn ignition on. If brake system indicator light comes on, go to next step. If brake system indicator light does not illuminate, repair open in Yellow wire between gauge assembly and fuse No. 9 (10-amp), located in driver's underdash fuse/relay box.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS/TCS control unit 26-pin connector "A". Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS indicator light comes on, check ABS/TCS control unit connectors for loose, damaged or corroded terminals. If problem exists, repair ABS/TCS control unit connector(s). If problem does not exist, replace ABS/TCS control unit with known-good ABS/TCS control unit and retest system.
  4. Check ABS indicator light bulb in gauge assembly. If bulb is blown, replace bulb. If bulb is okay, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect gauge assembly 16-pin connector "C". Check for continuity between ground and gauge assembly connector "C" terminal No. 10 (Blue/White wire). See Fig 1 . If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Blue/White wire between gauge assembly and ABS/TCS control unit.
  6. Reconnect gauge assembly connector "C". Connect fused jumper wire between ground and gauge assembly 22-pin connector "B" terminal No. 16 (Black wire) by backprobing. Turn ignition on. If ABS indicator light comes on, go to next step. If ABS indicator light does not illuminate, replace gauge assembly. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
  7. Repair open in Black wire between gauge assembly connector and ground. Ground point is located behind instrument panel on far right side. Remove glove box to access.
