DTC P0335: CKP Sensor No Signal; DTC P0336: CKP Sensor Circuit Intermittent Interruption (2000-2003 models); DTC P0339: CKP Sensor Circuit Intermittent Interruption (2004-2005 models)
NOTE:
- Information marked with an asterisk (*) applies to 2000-2003 models.
- Information marked with double asterisk (**) applies to 2004-2005 models.
- Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
- Reset the ECM (see HOW TO RESET THE ECM ).
- Start the engine.
Is DTC P0335 and/or P0336* (P0339)** indicated?
- YES - Go to step 3.
- NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CKP sensor and at the ECM.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the CKP sensor 3P connector.
- At the sensor side, measure resistance between CKP sensor 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.

Is there 1,850-2,450 Ω?
- YES - Go to step 6.
- NO - Replace the CKP sensor (see ENGINE COMPRESSION INSPECTION ).
- At the sensor side, check for continuity between CKP sensor 3P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground and terminal No. 2 and body ground individually.

Is there continuity?
- YES - Replace the CKP sensor (see ENGINE COMPRESSION INSPECTION ).
- NO - Go to step 7.
- Reconnect the CKP sensor 3P connector.
- Disconnect ECM connector C (31P), and measure resistance between the ECM connector terminals C8 and C9.

Is there 1,850-2,450 Ω?
- YES - Go to step 9.
- NO - Repair open in the wire between the ECM (C8, C9) and the CKP sensor.
- Check for continuity between ECM connector terminal C8 and body ground.

Is there continuity?
- YES - Repair short in the wire between ECM terminal C8 and the CKP sensor.
- NO - Substitute a known-good ECM (see HOW TO SUBSTITUTE THE ECM FOR TESTING PURPOSES ) and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original ECM (see ECM REPLACEMENT ).
