Poor Or No Sound With XM Radio (Audio-Navigation Unit Does Display XM Channels) (With Navigation)
- Check the vehicle battery condition first (see BATTERY TEST ).
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- If you can only tune to channel 000, 001, 174, and 247, make sure the audio-navigation unit is set to channel mode (see Owner's Manual), if it is set to channel mode, call XM Satellite Radio customer support and check the account activation status.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Turn on the audio system, and select XM radio.
- Check for an error message on the display.
Are there any messages displayed?
YES - Go to ERROR CODES .
NO - Go to step 4.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector D (14P).NOTE: Eject all the CDs before remove the audio-navigation unit to prevent damaging the player's load mechanism.
- Disconnect XM receiver connector A (14P) and USB adapter unit connector A (14P).
- Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector D (14P) and body ground according to the table below.CONNECTOR REFERENCE TABLE
Audio-Navigation Unit Connector Wire Color D5 WHT D6 RED D13 BLU D14 GRN Is there continuity?
YES - Short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit, the USB adapter unit, and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 8.
- Check for continuity between the audio-navigation unit connector D (14P) according to the table below.TERMINALS REFERENCE TABLE
From Terminal To Terminals D4 D5, D6, D13, D14 D5 D6, D13, D14 D6 D13, D14 D13 D14 Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES - Short in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit, the USB adapter unit, and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO - Go to step 9.
- Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) and audio-navigation unit connector D (14P) according to the table below.CONNECTOR REFERENCE TABLE
XM Receiver Connector Audio-Navigation Unit Connector Wire Color A6 D6 RED A14 D14 GRN A5 D5 WHT A13 D13 BLU Is there continuity?
YES - Substitute a known-good XM receiver (see XM RECEIVER REPLACEMENT ), then reconnect the all connectors and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original XM receiver. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio-navigation unit (see AUDIO-NAVIGATION UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
NO - There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.
