Exploded View

NOTE:
- The parking brake cables must not be bent or distorted. This will lead to stiff operation and premature cable failure.
- Refer to the EXPLODED VIEW as needed during this procedure.
- Release the parking brake lever fully.
- Remove the center console (see CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the wire guide base (A), then disconnect the parking brake cables (B) from the equalizer (C).
- Disconnect the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever assembly (see PARKING BRAKE SHOE REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the parking brake cable mounting nuts from the backing plate (A), and remove the parking brake cable (B).
- 2WD: Remove the heat shield (A).
- Remove the parking brake cable grommets, and pull out the parking brake cable from the body floor.
- Remove the parking brake cable mounting hardware, then remove the parking brake cable.
- Install the parking brake cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Be careful not to bend or distort the cable.
- Adjust the parking brake (see PARKING BRAKE INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT ). Apply the parking brake firmly 10 times then adjust it again.
