Paddle Shifter - (Downshift Switch) Test

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ), and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or service.

  1. Remove the steering wheel (see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL ).
  2. Check the paddle shifter - (downshift switch) for continuity between cable reel subharness 13P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 7.

    There should be continuity while pressing the paddle shifter -, and no continuity when the paddle shifter - is released.

  3. The paddle shifter - test is finished if the test result is OK.

    If the paddle shifter - fails the test at the 13P connector, test the paddle shifter - at the paddle shifter - connector.

  4. Remove paddle shifter - connector from its holder, and disconnect the connector.

  5. Check the paddle shifter - for continuity between the paddle shifter - connector terminals while pressing the paddle shifter - and when the paddle shifter - is released.

    There should be continuity while pressing the paddle shifter -, and no continuity when the paddle shifter - is released.

  6. Replace the paddle shifter - if the paddle shifter - works incorrectly (see PADDLE SHIFTER - (DOWNSHIFT SWITCH) REPLACEMENT ).
  7. Replace the cable reel subharness if the paddle shifter - is OK (see CABLE REEL SUBHARNESS REPLACEMENT ).
