Cruise control cannot be set
  1. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
  2. Check the No. A2-6 (30 A) and No. A9 (20 A) fuses in the main under hood fuse/relay box, and the No. C24 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under dash fuse/relay box.
  3. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
  4. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ).
Poor ground at G402
Cruise control can be set, but the cruise main indicator does not come on
  1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function procedure (see SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ). Test the cruise main switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
Faulty gauge control module
Cruise control can be set, but the cruise control indicator does not come on
  1. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function procedure (see SELF-DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ). Test the cruise control indicator signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
Faulty gauge control module
Vehicle does not accelerate accordingly when the resume/accel button is pressed
  1. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ). Test the resume/accel switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: ORN wire (with HandsFreeLink), WHT or ORN wire (without HandsFreeLink)
Set speed does not cancel when the brake pedal is pressed
  1. Do the brake pedal position switch test (see BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ). Test the brake pedal position switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
  • Short to power on the ORN wire
  • Faulty brake pedal position switch
Set speed does not cancel when the cruise control main button is pressed
  1. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ). Test the cruise control main switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
Short to ground on the YEL wire (with HandsFreeLink), ORN or YEL wire (without HandsFreeLink)
Set speed does not cancel when the cancel button is pressed
  1. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ). Test the cancel switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: RED, PUR, or ORN wire (with HandsFreeLink), PUR, WHT, or ORN wire (without HandsFreeLink)
Set speed does not resume when the resume/accel button is pressed (with the cruise control main switch turned on, and set speed temporarily canceled by pressing the brake pedal)
  1. Do the cruise control combination switch test (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
  2. Do the cruise control input test (see CRUISE CONTROL INPUT TEST  ). Test the resume/accel switch signal input.
  3. Check for PGM-FI DTCs (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: ORN wire (with HandsFreeLink), WHT or ORN wire (without HandsFreeLink)
Light switch turned on, the cruise control combination switch illumination does not come on
  1. Check the No. D25 (7.5 A) fuse in the passenger's under dash fuse/relay box.
  2. Check the cruise control combination switch (see CRUISE CONTROL COMBINATION SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT  ).
  3. Check the audio remote switch (see AUDIO REMOTE SWITCH TEST ).
Open circuit, loose or disconnected terminals: GRY, BLU, or RED wire (with HandsFreeLink), GRY, LT BLU, YEL, or RED wire (without HandsFreeLink)
