Power Tailgate Motor Test

  1. Open the tailgate, and remove the left rear side trim (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA ).
  2. Disconnect drive unit A (2P) connector (A).

  3. Close the tailgate manually.
  4. Check the motor operation by connecting battery power to the terminal No. 1 and ground to the terminal No. 2. The motor should run (tailgate open).
    NOTE: Be careful not to pinch your hands.
  5. After opening the tailgate, connect battery power to the terminal No. 2 and ground the terminal No. 1. The motor should run (tailgate closed).
  6. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the drive unit assembly.
