Back-up Light Switch Test

  1. Disconnect the back-up light switch connector (A).

  2. Check for continuity between the back-up light switch 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be continuity when the shift lever is only in reverse.
    • If the test result is OK, go to step  5.
    • If the test result is faulty, go to step  3.

  3. Remove the back-up light switch (A). Check for continuity between back-up light switch 2P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be continuity when the actuator (B) is pressed, and no continuity when the actuator is released.
    NOTE:
    • If you apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.
    • If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.

  4. Apply liquid gasket (P/N 08717-0004, 08718-0001, 08718-0012, 08718-0003 or 08718-0009) to the threads of the back-up light switch, and install it on the transmission housing.
  5. Connect the back-up light switch 2P connector.
