Cool Box Control Motor Circuit Troubleshooting

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2017 Honda Odyssey, 2016 Honda Odyssey, 2015 Honda Odyssey, 2014 Honda Odyssey, and 2013 Honda Odyssey. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check the No. C26 (7.5A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES  -Go to step 2.

NO  -Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blow again, check for a short in the No. C26 (7.5A) fuse circuit.

  2. Disconnect the cool box control motor 7P connector.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  4. Measure the voltage between cool box control motor 7P connector terminal No. 7 and body ground.

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES  -Go to step 5.

NO  -Repair an open in the wire between the No. C26 (7.5A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the cool box control motor.

  5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  6. Test the cool box control motor (see COOL BOX CONTROL MOTOR TEST  ).

Is the cool box control motor OK?

YES  -With the cool box control motor disconnected, go to step 7.

NO  -Replace the cool box control motor (see COOL BOX CONTROL MOTOR REPLACEMENT  ), or repair the cool box control linkage or door.

  7. Disconnect climate control unit connector B (16P).
  8. Check for continuity between body ground and climate control unit connector B (16P) terminals No. 12 and No. 13 individually.

    Is there continuity?

YES  -Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the cool box control motor.

    NO  -Go to step 9.

  9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and measure the voltage between body ground and climate control unit connector B (16P) terminals No. 12 and No. 13 individually..

    Is there any voltage?

YES  -Repair a short to power in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the cool box control motor. This short may also damage the climate control unit. Repair a short to power before replacing the climate control unit.

    NO  -Go to step 10.

  10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  11. Check for continuity between the following terminals of climate control unit connector B (16P) and the cool box control motor 7P connector.

    Is there continuity?

YES  -Check for loose wires or poor connections at climate control unit connector B (16P) and at the cool box control motor 7P connector. If the connections are good, substitute a known-good climate control unit, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original climate control unit (see CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  ).

NO  -Repair an open in the wire(s) between the climate control unit and the cool box control motor.
