DTC 81: TPMS Control Unit Failure

NOTE: Low 12 volt battery voltage can cause this DTC. Make sure the 12 volt battery is fully charged and in good condition (see 12 VOLT BATTERY TEST ).
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then turn the ignition switch to ON (II) again.
  4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

    Is DTC 81 indicated? 

    YES  -Replace the TPMS control unit (see TPMS CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT  ).

    NO  -The system is OK at this time. Check for loose terminals and poor connections at the TPMS control unit.
