Ignition Key Switch Test

NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ), and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before repairing or servicing.
  1. Remove the steering column covers (see COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  2. Disconnect the steering lock 6P connector (A).

  3. Check for continuity between the terminals No. 5 and No. 6.
    • There should be continuity with the key in the ignition switch.
    • There should be no continuity with the key removed.
  4. If the continuity is not as specified, the ignition key switch is faulty; replace the steering lock (see STEERING LOCK REPLACEMENT ).
