DTC B1281, B1282, B1283, B1284: Front Wiper Switch MIST Position Circuit Malfunction; Front Wiper Switch INT Position Circuit Malfunction; Front Wiper Switch LOW Position Circuit Malfunction; Front Wiper Switch HIGH Position Circuit Malfunction
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
- Operate each wiper switch position, then turn the wiper/washer switch OFF.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1281, B1282, B1283, or B1284 indicated?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Select WIPERS from the BODY ELECTRICAL menu, and enter DATA LIST.
- Check each wiper switch position value with the DATA LIST menu.
When the wiper switch is OFF:
DATA LIST TABLEData List Value Wiper Switch (LOW) OFF Wiper Switch (HIGH) OFF Wiper Switch (MIST) OFF Wiper Switch (INT) OFF Are all data list values correct?
YES - Go to step 15.
NO - Go to step 7.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the wiper/washer switch 8P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Select WIPERS from the BODY ELECTRICAL menu.
- Check each wiper switch position value with the DATA LIST menu.DATA LIST TABLE
Data List Value Wiper Switch (LOW) OFF Wiper Switch (HIGH) OFF Wiper Switch (MIST) OFF Wiper Switch (INT) OFF Are all data list values correct?
YES - Replace the wiper/washer switch (see WIPER/WASHER SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
NO - Go to step 12.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector M (34P).
- Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector M (24P) terminals No. 10, No. 11, and No. 12 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short to ground in the wires.
NO - Faulty MICU, replace the under-dash fuse/ relay box (see REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
- Check each wiper switch position value with the DATA LIST menu.
When the wiper switch is ON (LOW):

YES - Faulty MICU, replace the under-dash fuse/ relay box (see appropriate REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION procedure ).
NO - Go to step 16.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Do the wiper/washer switch test (see WIPER/WASHER SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT
).
Is the wiper/washer switch OK?
YES - Go to step 18.
NO - Replace the wiper/washer switch (see WIPER/WASHER SWITCH TEST/REPLACEMENT ).
- Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connectors M (34P) and Q (16P).
- Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector M (34P) terminals and the wiper/washer switch 8P connector terminals as shown:

Is there continuity?
YES - Faulty MICU, replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (see appropriate REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION procedure ).
NO - Repair open in the wires.
