USA models

  1. Remove the rear panel insulator (see REAR PANEL INSULATOR REPLACEMENT ).
  2. Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the imoes unit (B).

  3. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals look OK, Go to step 4.
  4. Reconnect the connector to the imoes unit, and do the following input test:
    • If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If all the input tests prove OK, the imoes unit must be faulty; replace it.
    TEST CONDITION REFERENCE CHART

    Cavity Wire (Signal) Test Condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
    1 BRN/YEL (LG3) In all ignition switch positions Measure the voltage to ground:
    There should be battery voltage.
    • Faulty PCM
    • An open or high resistance in the wire
    5 WHT/RED (+B) Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground:
    There should be battery voltage.
    • Blown No. 7 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
    • An open or high resistance in the wire
    3 BLK/GRN (IG1) Ignition switch ON (II). Measure the voltage to ground:
    There should be battery voltage.
    • Blown No. 19 (15 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box
    • An open or high resistance in the wire
    2 RED/BLU (IMOCD) (S-NET) Under all conditions
    NOTE: Test with imoes unit, PCM, and immobilizer control unit-receiver disconnected.
    Check for continuity to ground:
    There should be no continuity.
    • Faulty immobilizer control unit-receiver
    • Faulty PCM
    • A short to ground in the wire
    Check for continuity between terminal No. 2, PCM connector A (49P) terminal No. 46, and immobilizer control unit-receiver terminal No. 2:
    There should be continuity
    4 RED/WHT (KEY SW) Ignition key removed from the ignition switch Measure the voltage to ground:
    There should be battery voltage
    • Faulty PCM
    • Faulty ignition key switch
    • An open or high resistance in the wire
    Ignition key inserted in the ignition switch Measure the voltage to ground:
    There should be less than 0.2 V.
    • Faulty ignition key switch
    • An open or high resistance in the wire
    • Poor ground (G401) or an open in the ground wire
