Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - USB device does not function(With Normal Audio)
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle 12 volt battery condition first .
- Check the USB's specifications:
-
- Mass-storage class ready digital audio player with USB 2.0 port
- More than 256 MB storage space
- Supports MP3, WMA, and AAC (encoded with the iTunes) files, DRM files are not supported
- Not all players and player functions work with the USB adapter. Please see the Owner's Manual for more information. Always test the customer's USB device in a known-good vehicle of the same year and trim (if possible). Technologies change and are updated frequently which may result that USB devices may work in newer vehicles, but not in older vehicles of the same model.
- If Unsupported Version appears on the display, the vehicle is OK, there is a software problem with the USB device.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- 1. Determine possible failure area (GA-NET circuit, others):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Turn on the audio unit, and press the AUX button to select the USB mode.
NOTE: Do not connect the USB device.
Is No Data displayed in the multi-information display unit?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO: With HandsFreeLink
Go to step 6.

Go to step 7.
- 2. Determine possible failure area (USB device, others):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Connect the customer's USB device to a known-good vehicle (same year/trim) that is equipped with a USB adapter, and check the USB device operation.
Is the USB device working properly in the known-good vehicle?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
See the Owner's Manual for details about the USB device requirements and approved file types.
- 3. Problem verification:
- 1. On the customer's vehicle, connect the customer's USB device to the USB port located in the center console.
- 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 3. Check the USB device operation in the customer's vehicle.
Does the USB device work properly in the customer's vehicle?
YES
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Inspect the connectors of the USB device, USB port, and USB adapter for wear.
NO
The failure is duplicated, go to step 4.
- 4. Determine possible failure area (USB lines, multi-information display unit):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. On the customer's vehicle, disconnect the customer's USB device from the USB port.
- 3. Disconnect the following connector.
Multi-information display unit connector B (5P) - 4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

YES
Replace the USB adapter , then recheck.
NO
Replace the USB main harness, then recheck.
- 6. Determine possible failure area (related unit, others):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connector.
HandsFreeLink control unit 32P connector - 3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 4. Turn on the audio unit, and press the AUX button to select the USB mode.
NOTE: Do not connect the USB device.
Is No Data displayed in the multi-information display unit?
YES
Replace the HandsFreeLink control unit .
NO
Go to step 7.
- 7. Shorted wire check (GA BUS+ line, GA BUS-
line):
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- 2. Disconnect the following connectors.
Audio unit connector C (14P) Multi-information display unit connector A (32P) - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
