Power Sliding Door Control Unit

  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  2. Remove the left rear side trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA ).
  3. Remove the power sliding door control unit (see POWER SLIDING DOOR MOTOR UNIT REPLACEMENT ).
  4. Disconnect connector A (12P), B (16P), and C (5P) from the power sliding door control unit (D).
    NOTE: All connector views are wire side of female terminals.

  5. Inspect all the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
    • If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
    • If the terminals look OK, go to step 6.
  6. With the connectors still disconnected, do the following input tests:
    • If the test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If the input test proves OK, go to step 7.
      TEST CONDITION CHART

      Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
      B3 PUR Put the sliding door into the half latched position, then connect terminals C3 and B3, terminals B6 and C5. Check for closer motor operation: The closer motor should operate (check by operation sound).
      • Faulty power sliding door fitting or friction
      • Faulty closer motor
      • An open in the CESS articulated harness
      • An open in the wire
      B6 GRY
      B3 PUR Close the slide door, then connected the terminals C3 and B6, terminals B3 and C5
      B6 GRY
      B4 BRN(1)
      LT GRN(2)      		 Close the slide door connected the terminals C3 and B4 Check for release actuator operation: The release actuator should operate (check of half or open condition).
      • Poor ground (G602(1), G652(2))
      • Faulty release actuator
      • An open in the CESS articulated harness
      • An open in the wire
      B15 YEL Power sliding door main switch ON Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
      • Poor ground (G401)
      • Faulty power sliding door switch
      • An open in the wire
      Power sliding door main switch OFF Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.

      A10 WHT(1)
      PNK(2)      		 Push the power sliding door switch to open side Check for continuity between the terminals A10 and B10: There should be continuity.

      B7 GRY Press the pinch sensor Check for pinch sensor: The resistance should vary from about 1 kΩ to about 100 Ω.

      YEL(2)      		 Close the sliding door Check for continuity between the terminals A4 and B5: There should be continuity.
      • Faulty half latch switch

      YEL(2)      		 Fully open the sliding door Check for continuity between the terminals A4 and B5: There should be no continuity.

      GRY(2)      		 Connect the terminals C3 and B3, terminals B6 and C5 and then open the slide door more than 100 mm (3.9 in) Check for continuity between the terminals A11 and B5: There should be continuity.
      • Faulty base position switch
      • An open in the CESS articulated harness
      • An open in the wire

      GRY(2)      		 Connect the terminals C3 and B6, terminals B3 and C5 and then open the slide door more than 100 mm (3.9 in) Check for continuity between the terminals A11 and B5: There should be no continuity.
      • Faulty base position switch
      • Short to ground in the CESS articulated harness
      • Short to ground in the wire
      B5 YEL
      A5 GRN Close the sliding door Check for continuity between the terminals A5 and B5: There should be continuity.
      • Faulty full latch switch
      • An open in the CESS articulated harness
      • An open in the wire
      B5 YEL
      A5 GRN Open the slide door more than 100 mm (3.9 in) Check for continuity between the terminals A5 and B5: There should be no continuity.
      • Faulty full latch switch
      • Short to ground in the CESS articulated harness
      • Short to ground in the wire
      B5 YEL
      A12 BLU Close the sliding door Check for continuity between the terminals A12 and B5: There should be continuity.
      • Faulty ratchet switch
      • An open in the CESS articulated harness
      • An open in the wire

      A12 BLU Open the slide door more than 100 mm (3.9 in) Check for continuity between the terminals A12 and B5: There should be no continuity.
      • Faulty ratchet switch
      • Short to ground in the CESS articulated harness

      A6 ORN Fully close sliding door window Check for continuity between the terminals A6 and B5: There should be continuity.

      A8 BLU Push the B-pillar power sliding door switch to open side Check for continuity between the terminals A8 and B10: There should be continuity.

  7. Reconnect all connectors to the power sliding doors control unit, and do the following input tests:
    • If the test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system.
    • If the input test proves OK, go to step 8.
    TEST CONDITION CHART

    Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
    B1 WHT Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    • Blown No. B16 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
    • An open in the wire
    B8 GRN Ignition switch ON (II) Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    • Blown No. D20 (7.5 A) fuse(2) in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box
    • Blown No. E13 (7.5 A) fuse(1) in the rear fuse box
    • An open in the wire
    C3 RED(1) Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    • Blown No. C9 (20 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
    • An open in the wire
    GRN(2)
    • Blown No. D13 (20 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box
    • An open in the wire
    C1 WHT(1) Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
    • Blown No. C33 (40 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box
    • An open in the wire
    RED(2)
    • Blown No. A3-8 (AS PSD MTR) (40 A) fuse in the main under-hood fuse box
    • An open in the wire
    C2 BRN Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
    • Poor ground (G602(1), G652(2))
    • An open in the wire
    C5 BLK
    B2
    B11 BLU Shift lever in P position Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V.
    • Poor ground (G101) or an open in the ground wire
    • Faulty transmission range switch
    • An open or high resistance in the wire
    Shift lever in any position other than P Measure the voltage to ground: There should be about 5 V.
    • Should to ground in the wire
    • Faulty transmission range switch
