Charging System - Overview
Overview
The PCM gathers vehicle operating system data and determines the required charging rate. Based on that data, the PCM commands the alternator to provide a specific charging rate (voltage) between 12.5 and 15.8 volts, using 1/10th volt steps. In some operating conditions, the alternator may bypass PCM control and use a default value.
* Depending on the vehicle condition, the variable control is not activated.
When the alternator is at fault, one or more of the following DTC is stored. Refer to the corresponding troubleshooting.
| DTC | Detection Item |
|---|---|
| P0562 | Charging System Low Voltage |
| P065A | ACG No Charging Malfunction |
| P1549 | Charging System High Voltage |
| P16BB | Alternator B Terminal Circuit Low Voltage |
| P16E2 | PGM-FI-ACG LIN Communication Error |
| P16E4 | ACG High-temperature |
