Removal and Installation

NOTE: 

• Where icon is shown for further information continue to the information below.
• Although a numbered sequence is shown, these "*1" indicated parts are separate components. If removal or replacement of one of the components is needed, it is not necessary to remove the other.
• Due to the high temperatures of the exhaust system, the exhaust nut, studs and bolts may seize preventing easy removal. If you encounter a seized condition, do the following.
  • Apply rust penetrant to the nut/stud or bolt.
  • Allow the penetrant to sit. The amount of time may vary.
  • Lightly tap the nut/stud or bolt with a hammer.
  • Slowly loosen the nut or bolt.
  • If the nut or bolt still will not loosed, repeat steps to .

Under-Floor TWC 

1. Engine Undercover - Remove
2. Transmission Undercover - Remove
3. Front Subframe Stiffener Plate - Remove
4. Front Secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) - Remove
5. Under-Floor TWC Assembly - Remove
6. Under-Floor TWC Cover - Remove (if needed)
7. Mounting Rubber - Remove (If needed)

   Note for installation 

   Make sure the direction of the mounting rubber (A) is as shown.

8. All Removed Parts - Install

   1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

Front Bank (Bank 2) 

1. Engine Cover - Remove
2. EGR Pipe A - Remove
3. Front A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) - Remove
4. Under-Floor TWC - Remove
5. Front WU-TWC Bracket - Remove

   Note for installation 

   • Before installing the WU-TWC bracket, confirm the bolts and nuts fixing the WU-TWC to the cylinder head are tightened to the specified torque.
   • Tighten the WU-TWC bracket mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.
6. A/C Condenser Fan Shroud Assembly - Remove
7. Front WU-TWC Assembly - Remove

   NOTE:  Carefully remove the front WU-TWC assembly.

8. WU-TWC Cover - Remove (if needed)

   Note for installation 

   Before installing the WU-TWC, install the WU-TWC covers.

9. All Removed Parts - Install

   1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

Rear Bank (Bank 1) 

1. Stabilizer Link (Right Side) - Remove
2. Under-Floor TWC - Remove
3. Rear A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) - Remove
4. Rear Secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) - Remove
5. Rear WU-TWC Bracket - Remove

   Note for installation 

   • Before installing the WU-TWC bracket, confirm the bolts and nuts fixing the WU-TWC to the cylinder head are tightened to the specified torque.
   • Tighten the WU-TWC bracket mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.
6. Rear WU-TWC - Remove

   1. Remove the steering gearbox heat shield (A).

   2. Remove the rear engine mount heat shield (A).

   3. Remove the nuts (A), and move the WU-TWC (B) as shown.

   4. Turn the WU-TWC (A), then take it out by turning it in the numbered sequence as shown.

7. WU-TWC Cover - Remove (if needed)

   Note for installation 

   Before installing the WU-TWC, install the WU-TWC covers.

8. All Removed Parts - Install

   1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
