DTC P081C
DTC P081C: Park Switch Input Circuit
General Description
| Input signal | State of the switch | |
|---|---|---|
| PinSW1 | PinSW2 | |
| Lo | Lo | PinSW ON |
| Lo | Hi | During switch operation or single switch failure |
| Hi | Lo | |
| Hi | Hi | PinSW OFF |
When PinSW1 and PinSW2 input signal logic does not match (PinSW1 ON/PinSW2 OFF or PinSW1 OFF/PinSW2 ON) during accelerations and decelerations, the powertrain control module (PCM) receives malfunction from the SBW shifter control module, and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
The input signal logic of PinSW1 and PinSW2 does not match (PinSW1 ON/PinSW2 OFF or PinSW1 OFF/PinSW2 ON) during accelerating and decelerating (6 mph (10 km/h) or less for 2 seconds, 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for 2 seconds, and 6 mph (10 km/h) or less for 2 seconds).
Possible Cause
- SBW shifter assembly internal failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- Turn the vehicle to the READY TO DRIVE mode.
- Drive the vehicle in D at a speed of 6 mph (10 km/h) or less for at least 2 seconds.
- Accelerate the vehicle to 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for at least 2 seconds.
- Slow down the vehicle to 6 mph (10 km/h) or less for at least 2 seconds.
- Stop the vehicle.
- Drive the vehicle in this manner only if the traffic regulations and ambient conditions allow.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on, the shift position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
