DTC P0843 (2020 2021)
DTC P0843: Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input
General Description
The transmission fluid pressure sensor is installed in the hydraulic pressure circuit to the over drive clutch. When hydraulic pressure is supplied to the over drive clutch, the transmission fluid pressure sensor output is above the main regulator valve output pressure. When hydraulic pressure is not supplied to the over drive clutch, the transmission fluid pressure sensor output is low. The signal from the transmission fluid pressure sensor is sent to the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM detects the hydraulic pressure supply conditions at the over drive clutch. If the transmission fluid pressure sensor signal voltage is a specified value for a set time, the PCM detects a transmission fluid pressure sensor failure and stores a DTC.

[ ]: HDS Parameter
Malfunction Threshold
When the transmission fluid pressure sensor output voltage [Oil Pressure Sensor 1 Voltage] is 4.65 V or more for 5.0 seconds or more while vehicle is turned to the ON mode.
Possible Cause
- Transmission fluid pressure sensor PODCL line open
- Transmission fluid pressure sensor SG2 line open
- PCM internal failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for at least 5.0 seconds.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, the shift position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
