DTC P2419
DTC P2419: Fuel Vapor Containment Valve Control Circuit Low Voltage
General Description
The fuel vapor containment valve is installed between the fuel tank and the purge passage to be used to isolate the fuel tank from the purge passage except when refueling to create a sealed condition. The fuel vapor containment valve is normally closed. The powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC when open signal is returned continuously for the prescribed number of times though open signal is not output to the fuel vapor containment valve.

[ ]: HDS Parameter
Malfunction Threshold
When the open signal is returned continuously for 200 times though open signal is not output to the fuel vapor containment valve.
Possible Cause
- Fuel vapor containment valve FTCV- line open
- Fuel vapor containment valve power supply line open
- Fuel vapor containment valve internal circuit open
- Fuel vapor containment valve FTCV- line short
- Fuel vapor containment valve power supply line short
- PCM internal circuit failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
With the HDS
Do the EVAP TEST FUEL VAPOR CONTAINMENT VALVE (FTCV) in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the PCM memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
