DTC P26C3
DTC P26C3: Internal Control Module Transmission Range Sensor Performance
General Description
| Input signal | State of the switch | |
|---|---|---|
| PinSW1 | PinSW2 | |
| Lo | Lo | PinSW ON |
| Lo | Hi | During switch operation or single switch failure |
| Hi | Lo | |
| Hi | Hi | PinSW OFF |
The transmission control module (TCM) and the SBW shifter control module (integrated with the SBW shifter assembly) are connected with a communication line (F-CAN A and F-CAN B). For shift position switching control, the shift position signal from the SBW shifter control module via F-CAN B is used for main signal, and the shift position signal from the SBW shifter control module via F-CAN A is used for back-up signal. When PinSW1 and PinSW2 input signal logic do not match (PinSW1 ON and PinSW2 OFF or PinSW1 OFF and PinSW2 ON) during accelerations and decelerations, or input information from the switch input circuit is abnormal while shifting to R, N, or D switch, the TCM receives malfunction from the SBW shifter control module, and stores a DTC.

Malfunction Threshold
One of these conditions is met:
- The input signal logic of PinSW1 and PinSW2 do not match (PinSW1 ON and PinSW2 OFF or PinSW1 OFF and PinSW2 ON) while accelerating and decelerating (6 mph (10 km/h) or less for 2 seconds, 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for 2 seconds, and 6 mph (10 km/h) or less for 2 seconds).
- RSW1 or RSW3 is ON for at least 200 milliseconds when shifting the transmission to other than R position/mode.
- RSW2 is ON for at least 1 minute when shifting the transmission to other than R position/mode.
- RSW1, RSW2, or RSW3 is OFF for at least 10 times when shifting the transmission to R position/mode.
- NSW1 or NSW3 is ON for at least 200 milliseconds when shifting the transmission to other than N position/mode.
- NSW2 is ON for at least 1 minute when shifting the transmission to other than N position/mode.
- NSW1, NSW2, or NSW3 is OFF for at least 10 times when shifting the transmission to N position/mode.
- DSW1 or DSW3 is ON for at least 200 milliseconds when shifting the transmission to other than D position/mode.
- DSW2 is ON for at least 1 minute when shifting the transmission to other than D position/mode.
- DSW1, DSW2, or DSW3 is OFF for at least 10 times when shifting the transmission to D position/mode.
Possible Cause
The causes shown may not be a complete list of all potential problems, and it is possible that there may be other causes.
- SBW shifter assembly internal failure (SBW shifter control module)
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- 1.
Turn the vehicle to the READY TO DRIVE mode.
- 2.
Drive the vehicle at a speed of 6 mph (10 km/h) or less for at least 2 seconds.
- 3.
Accelerate the vehicle to 25 mph (40 km/h) or more for at least 2 seconds.
- 4.
Slow down the vehicle to 6 mph (10 km/h) or less for at least 2 seconds.
- 5.
Stop the vehicle.
- 6.
Shift the transmission to other than R position/mode for at least 1 minute.
- 7.
Shift the transmission to R position/mode at least 10 times.
- 8.
Shift the transmission to other than N position/mode for at least 1 minute.
- 9.
Shift the transmission to N position/mode at least 10 times.
- 10.
Shift the transmission to other than D position/mode for at least 1 minute.
- 11.
Shift the transmission to D position/mode at least 10 times.
- Drive the vehicle in this manner only if the traffic regulations and ambient conditions allow.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the A/T gear position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the TCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The A/T gear position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
