DTC P084F
DTC P084F: Park/Neutral Switch Output Circuit
General Description
The SBW shifter control module in the SBW shifter assembly judges the parking position by the output voltage from the park position sensor. The SBW shifter control module switches the ATP-P output to Hi/Lo according to the parking condition of the transmission. The SBW shifter control module monitors the return signal of the ATP-P output, and when the return signal and ATP-P output does not match for a specified duration, the powertrain control module (PCM) receives malfunction from the SBW shifter control module, and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Malfunction Threshold
The return signal and ATP-P output does not match for at least 2 seconds.
Possible Cause
- SBW shifter control module ATP-P line short to ground
- SBW shifter control module ATP-P line short to power
- SBW shifter assembly internal failure
- Body control module internal failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Shift the transmission to P position/mode, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
- While pressing the brake pedal, shift the transmission to N position/mode, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the shift position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
