DTC P26C3
DTC P26C3: Internal Control Module Transmission Range Sensor Performance
General Description
If input information from the input circuit is abnormal during shifting the R, N, or D switch, the powertrain control module (PCM) receives malfunction from the SBW shifter control module, and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type
| Execution | Continuous |
| Sequence | None |
| Duration | Depending on the driving conditions |
| DTC Type | One drive cycle, MIL off, Shift position indicator blinks |
Enable Conditions

Malfunction Threshold
Either one of the condition is met:
- RSW1 or RSW3 is ON for at least 200 milliseconds when shifting the transmission to other than R position/mode.
- RSW2 is ON for at least 1 minute when shifting the transmission to other than R position/mode.
- Either RSW1, RSW2, or RSW3 is OFF for at least 10 times when shifting the transmission to R position/mode.
- NSW1 or NSW3 is ON for at least 200 milliseconds when shifting the transmission to other than N position/mode.
- NSW2 is ON for at least 1 minute when shifting the transmission to other than N position/mode.
- Either NSW1, NSW2, or NSW3 is OFF for at least 10 times when shifting the transmission to N position/mode.
- DSW1 or DSW3 is ON for at least 200 milliseconds when shifting the transmission to other than D position/mode.
- DSW2 is ON for at least 1 minute when shifting the transmission to other than D position/mode.
- Either DSW1, DSW2, or DSW3 is OFF for at least 10 times when shifting the transmission to D position/mode.
Possible Cause
- SBW shifter assembly internal failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
- Shift the transmission to other than R position/mode for at least 1 minute.
- Shift the transmission to R position/mode for at least 10 times.
- Shift the transmission to other than N position/mode for at least 1 minute.
- Shift the transmission to N position/mode for at least 10 times.
- Shift the transmission to other than D position/mode for at least 1 minute.
- Shift the transmission to D position/mode for at least 10 times.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the shift position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory. The MIL does not come on.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
