DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P0BFD (30)
DTC P0BFD (30): Traction Motor Phase U-V-W Current Sensor Correlation
General Description
The motor control module controls a motor output based on the signal from the motor phase current sensors. When the phase motor current sensor malfunction and stuck occur, the output torque of the motor may be controlled improperly. The motor control module monitors the sum of the three phase motor current (IUPHM, IVPHM, and IWPHM) sensors at regular intervals (5 milliseconds), and when it deviates from the specified range (+90 A to -90 A), 10 is added to the counter. Conversely, when it is in the specified range, 1 is subtracted from the counter. When the counter exceeds a specified amount, a malfunction of the motor phase current sensors is detected and a DTC is stored.

- Motor control module failure
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected during the first drive cycle, a Pending DTC is stored in the motor control module memory. If the malfunction returns in the next (second) drive cycle, the MIL comes on, the POWER SYSTEM indicator comes on and a Confirmed DTC and the freeze data are stored in the motor control module memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL and the POWER SYSTEM indicator is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the POWER SYSTEM indicator, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
