DTC P1724
DTC P1724: Transmission Park Position Sensor/Switch A/B Incorrect Voltage Correlation
General Description
The SBW shifter control module in the SBW shifter assembly judges the parking position by the output voltage from the park position sensor. The SBW shifter control module monitors the total value of the park position sensor 1 output voltage and the park position sensor 2 output voltage, and when the total voltage is out of specified range for a specified duration, the powertrain control module (PCM) receives malfunction from the SBW shifter control module, and stores a DTC.
Monitor Execution, Sequence, Duration, DTC Type

Malfunction Threshold
The total value of the park position sensor 1 output voltage [Parking Sensor 1 voltage] and the park position sensor 2 output voltage [Parking Sensor 2 voltage] is 3.4 V or more, or 2.6 V or less for at least 2 seconds.
[ ]: HDS Parameter
Possible Cause
- Park position sensor internal failure
- SBW shifter assembly internal failure
Confirmation Procedure
Operating Condition
Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
With the HDS
None.
Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on, the shift position indicator blinks and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The shift position indicator comes off by turning the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs the MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command or by disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
