- Problem verification
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
-5. With the brake pedal pressed and the accelerator released, shift the transmission to N position/mode, then shift back to P position/mode, and wait for at least 5 seconds.
-6. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

The failure is duplicated. Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

No DTCs are indicated
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.
- Park pawl actuator check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Substitute a known-good park pawl actuator .
-3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-4. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-5. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-6. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for at least 10 seconds.
-7. With the brake pedal pressed and the accelerator released, shift the transmission to N position/mode, then shift back to P position/mode, and wait for at least 5 seconds.
-8. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame P171C Park Pawl System Multiple Sensor Correlation Is DTC P171C indicated?
YES
The park pawl actuator is OK. Go to step 3.
NO
- Park mechanism component part check
-1. Remove the transmission (e-CVT) .
-2. Disassemble the transmission (e-CVT) .
Check the following park mechanism component parts on the transmission housing for wear and damage.
- Parking gear
- Parking pawl spring
- Parking brake pawl
- Parking brake shaft
- Parking brake rod holder and its lock washer
Is there any worn or damaged part?
YES
Replace the worn or damaged component part on the transmission housing.
NO
The park mechanism component parts are OK. Faulty transmission park mechanism. Replace the transmission (e-CVT) .
