EPS Motor/Control Unit Removal and Installation: Installation

1. Apply steering grease to the rubber bush (A) and motor bush (B), then install them to the EPS motor/control unit (C). NOTE: Check the rubber bush and motor bush for damage and cracks. If the rubber bush and motor bush is cracked, replace the rubber bush and motor bush.
2. Apply steering grease to the new O-ring (D).
3. Install the O-ring to the EPS motor/control unit.
4. Tighten the EPS motor/control unit mounting bolts to the specified torque.
NOTE: Loosely install the EPS motor/control unit mounting bolts. Hold the EPS motor/control unit stationary by hand, and tighten the mounting bolts in two or more steps.
5. Connect the connector (A). - Steering Gearbox - Install
- EPS Control Unit Software - Check
1. Make sure the EPS control unit has the latest software. If it does not have the latest, update the software in the EPS control unit. - EPS Motor/Control Unit After Install - Check
1. After installation, check these items: - Turn the vehicle to the READY TO DRIVE mode, allow it to idle, and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times.
- Check that the EPS indicator does not come on. If the EPS indicator come on, review the General Troubleshooting Information .
