DTC P05AF

DTC P05AF  : Shutter Grille Assembly (Lower) Malfunction

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

DTC (PGM-FI)

1. Problem verification

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

   -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -4. Start the engine, and let it idle.

   -5. Check the parameter (s) below with the HDS.

   Do the current condition (s) match the threshold?

   YES 

   The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

   NO 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the shutter grille and the PCM. If the on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the on-board snapshot .

2. Shutter grille condition check

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   -2. Check for condition (damage, fixation, foreign material, etc.) at the shutter grille.

   Is the shutter grille OK?

   YES 

   Go to step 3.

   NO 

   Reassembly or repair the shutter grille if needed.

3. Fuse check

   -1. Check the following fuse.

   Fuse

   No. B17

   Is the fuse OK?

   YES 

   Go to step 4.

   NO 

   Repair a short in the +B SHUTTER GRILL (5A) wire between the No. B17 fuse and the shutter grille. Also replace the No. B17 fuse.

4. Open wire check (+B SHUTTER GRILL (5A) line)

   -1. Disconnect the following connector.

   Shutter grille 4P connector

   -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Shutter grille 4P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Shutter grille 4P connector (female terminals) No. 2:
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there battery voltage?

   YES 

   The +B SHUTTER GRILL (5A) wire is OK. Go to step 5.

   NO 

   Repair an open in the +B SHUTTER GRILL (5A) wire between the shutter grille and the No. B17 fuse.

5. Open wire check (GND line)

   -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Shutter grille 4P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Shutter grille 4P connector (female terminals) No. 4:
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

   YES 

   The GND wire is OK. Check the shutter grille subharness and repair or replace it if needed. If the subharness is OK, replace the shutter grille .

   NO 

   Repair an open in the GND wire between the shutter grille and G201.
