Rearview Camera Image Does Not Change When Selecting Different Views

NOTE: 

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 2. Shift the transmission to R position/mode.

    - 3. Operate the audio-navigation unit to see if the rearview image changes between the wide view, the normal view, and the top down view in this order.

    Does the rearview camera image change properly?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

    NO 

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.

  2. Shorted wire check (BIT0, BIT1 lines)

    -1. Shift the transmission to P position/mode or N position/mode.

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    - 3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P)
    Rearview camera 6P connector

    - 4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P): disconnected
    Rearview camera 6P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit 1
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P) No. 5 - Go to:Audio-Navigation Unit Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016)
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test circuit 2  
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P) No. 18 - Go to: Audio-Navigation Unit Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016)
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera.

    NO 

    The BIT0 wire and BIT1 wire are not shorted. Go to step 3.

  3. Shorted wire check (BIT0 line to BIT1 line)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P): disconnected
    Rearview camera 6P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P) No. 5 - Go to:Audio-Navigation Unit Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016)
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P) No. 18 - Go to: Audio-Navigation Unit Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Repair a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera.

    NO 

    The BIT0 wire to BIT1 wire are not shorted. Go to step 4.

  4. Open wire check (BIT0, BIT1 lines)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P): disconnected
    Rearview camera 6P connector: disconnected
    Test circuit 1  
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P) No. 5 - Go to: Audio-Navigation Unit Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016)
    Test point 2 Rearview camera 6P connector No. 5 - Go to: Rearview Camera Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016 2017 2018) (2016 2017 2018)
    Test circuit 2  
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P) No. 18 - Go to:Audio-Navigation Unit Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016)
    Test point 2 Rearview camera 6P connector No. 6 - Go to: Rearview Camera Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016 2017 2018)

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The BIT0 wire and BIT1 wire are OK. Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera.

  5. Audio-navigation unit check 1 (BIT0 line)

    -1. Reconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P)
    Rearview camera 6P connector

    - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    - 3. Shift the transmission to R position/mode.

    - 4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 as specified in the table.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P) No. 5 - Go to: Audio-Navigation Unit Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016)
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Selected view mode Voltage
    Wide View 0 V
    Normal View About 5 - 8 V
    Top Down View 0 V

    Is the voltage OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

  6. Audio-navigation unit check 2 (BIT1 line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2 as specified in the table.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector C (24P) No. 18 - Go to: Audio-Navigation Unit Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016)
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Selected view mode Voltage
    Wide View 0 V
    Normal View 0 V
    Top Down View About 5 - 8 V

    Is the voltage OK?

    YES 

    Replace The Rearview Camera .

    NO 

    Replace The Audio-Navigation Unit .
