EPS Motor/Control Unit Removal and Installation: Installation

  1. EPS Motor/Control Unit - Install

    1. Clean the mating surfaces between the EPS motor/control unit (A) and the steering column (B).
    NOTE:

    Make sure to keep any dust and debris away from the EPS motor/control unit components.

    2. Install a new O-ring (C) to the EPS motor.

    3. Apply grease to the EPS motor shaft (D).

    4. Install the EPS motor/control unit on the steering column by engaging the EPS motor shaft and the worm shaft (E).

    5. Loosely install the bolts (F) by hand but do not tighten.

    • Before tightening the bolts, turn the motor two or three times to the right and left about 45 degrees.
    • Make sure the EPS motor is evenly seated on the steering column.

    6. Tighten the EPS motor mounting bolts to the specified torque.

    7. Connect the connector (G).

    8. Install the harness bracket (A).

    9. Install the harness clips (B).

    10. Connect the connectors (C).

    11. Install the tube (D).

    12. Install new cable ties (E).

  3. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect
