The torque monitoring system monitors unexpected acceleration of the vehicle and contributes to ensuring safety. The powertrain control module (PCM) compares the actual torque with the target torque and it is used for the malfunction detection. If the sum of the difference between the target torque and the actual torque exceeds the permissible value, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
