DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P062F(PGM-FI System): General Description
The powertrain control module (PCM) has data that needs to be retained even when the 12 volt battery is removed. Therefore, the PCM equips electrically erasable programmable read-only memory (EEPROM) that is able to re-write by a software and retain data in case of 12 volt battery disconnection. During the vehicle is in ON mode, the random access memory (RAM) (back-up RAM and normal RAM) performs calculation and writes information that needs to be retained to the EEPROM when the vehicle is turned to the OFF (LOCK) mode. The PCM monitors the EEPROM writing condition after the vehicle is turned to the OFF (LOCK) mode and confirms if the data is written properly on next vehicle ON mode. If the data cannot be written to the EEPROM for a specified time, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
