DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P16E2: General Description

The local interconnect network (LIN) line connects the alternator and the powertrain control module (PCM). The LIN uses a master/slave protocol to send and receive data to the different components on the line. The slave node communicates according to the master node. If the PCM cannot receive signals from the alternator or the received information is abnormal, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
