DTC Advanced Diagnostics: P2092: General Description
The variable valve timing control (VTC) consists of the VTC actuator, the VTC oil control solenoid valve, sensors, and the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM controls the VTC oil control solenoid valve by the duty cycle and supplies hydraulic pressure to the advance chamber or the retard chamber in the actuator so the valve timing is optimized depending on the driving conditions (engine load, engine speed, and vehicle speed). The PCM monitors the VTCINB2 terminal voltage level via diagnosis interface circuit and detects VTC oil control solenoid valve A (bank 2) output signal rising/falling edge correctly. If there is no output signal edge even if the PCM outputs pulse width modulation (PWM) duty signal, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores the DTC.
