The powertrain control module (PCM) determines the camshaft timing based on the pulse signals output from the crankshaft position sensor (CKP) sensor and camshaft position (CMP) sensor B (bank 2). If the difference between the crankshaft position and the camshaft position is excessive, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
