EVAP System Troubleshooting (Mexico models): Inspection
EVAP Canister Purge Valve, Purge Line Inspection (Valve Open Stuck)
Test Procedure
- Preparation
- -
Engine: allowed to cool to which the HDS [ECT Sensor 1] value is less than 131°F (55°C)
- -
- Procedure
- Disconnect the vacuum hose (A) from the EVAP canister (B).
- Connect the vacuum pump/gauge, 0-30 inHg (C) to the vacuum hose as shown.
- Start the engine.
- Check the vacuum pump/gauge, 0-30 inHg with idling.
- Normal Conditions
- -
There is no vacuum while the HDS [ECT Sensor 1] is less than 131°F (55°C).
- -
Results
- If it is abnormal, inspect the vacuum hose. If it is OK, there is a problem with the EVAP canister purge valve.
EVAP Canister Purge Valve, Purge Line Inspection (Valve Closed Stuck)
Test Procedure

- Connect the vacuum pump/gauge, 0-30 inHg (C) to the vacuum hose as shown.
- Start the engine.
- Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm without load (in P or N) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
- Check the vacuum pump/gauge, 0-30 inHg with idling.
- Normal Conditions
- -
