Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 GMC Canyon and 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .

  3. Open the protective cover (3) to access the battery positive cable terminal.
  4. Loosen the battery positive cable nut (4).
  5. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery.

  7. Open the battery cables harness retainers (3, 4).

  9. Press the locking tabs inward in order to remove the underhood fuse block cover from the underhood fuse block.
  10. Remove the nut (3) securing the battery positive cable (4) to the underhood fuse block (1).
  11. Remove the battery positive cable (4) from the upper portion of the battery cables harness conduit (6).
  12. Raise and support the vehicle only high enough to access the remainder of the cable through the wheelhouse. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  13. Remove the left wheelhouse liner. Refer to Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Front in Body Front End.

  15. Remove the starter terminal nut (1) and disconnect the battery positive cable (2) from the starter.

  17. Open the battery cables harness retainer (5) at the engine wiring harness bracket (1).
  18. Remove the battery positive cable (2) from the battery cables harness conduit (6).
