Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure .
- Open the protective cover (3) to access the battery positive cable terminal.
- Loosen the battery positive cable nut (4).
- Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery.
- Open the battery cables harness retainers (3, 4).
- Press the locking tabs inward in order to remove the underhood fuse block cover from the underhood fuse block.
- Remove the nut (3) securing the battery positive cable (4) to the underhood fuse block (1).
- Remove the battery positive cable (4) from the upper portion of the battery cables harness conduit (6).
- Raise and support the vehicle only high enough to access the remainder of the cable through the wheelhouse. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the left wheelhouse liner. Refer to Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Front in Body Front End.
- Remove the starter terminal nut (1) and disconnect the battery positive cable (2) from the starter.
- Open the battery cables harness retainer (5) at the engine wiring harness bracket (1).
- Remove the battery positive cable (2) from the battery cables harness conduit (6).
