Circuit/System Testing

Midgate Window Inoperative

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the midgate module.
  2. Test for less than 1 ohm between ground circuit terminal 6 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  3. Test for less than 1 ohm between ground circuit terminal 16 and ground.
    • If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit 10 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  5. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuits 20 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  6. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 8 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
  7. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground.
  8. Command the midgate window UP using the midgate window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the UP command.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the midgate window switch.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the midgate window switch.
  9. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 19 and ground.
  10. Command the midgate window UP using the global window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the UP.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDS.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDS.
  11. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X5 harness connector at the DDS.
  12. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
  13. Ignition ON, command the midgate window DOWN using the midgate window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the DOWN command.
  14. Ignition OFF, connect the X5 harness connector at the DDS.
  15. Ignition ON, command the midgate window DOWN using the global window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the DOWN command.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDS.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDS.
  16. If all the circuits test normal replace the midgate module.
