Circuit/System Testing
Midgate Window Inoperative
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the midgate module.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between ground circuit terminal 6 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Test for less than 1 ohm between ground circuit terminal 16 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit 10 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuits 20 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit terminal 8 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the ignition circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
- Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 2 and ground.
- Command the midgate window UP using the midgate window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the UP command.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the midgate window switch.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the midgate window switch.
- Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 19 and ground.
- Command the midgate window UP using the global window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the UP.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDS.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDS.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X5 harness connector at the DDS.
- Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- Ignition ON, command the midgate window DOWN using the midgate window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the DOWN command.
- Ignition OFF, connect the X5 harness connector at the DDS.
- Ignition ON, command the midgate window DOWN using the global window switch. The test lamp should illuminate during the DOWN command.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDS.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the DDS.
- If all the circuits test normal replace the midgate module.
