Removal Procedure

    WARNING: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning .
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Fig 1: Identifying Battery Positive Cable Components

  3. Rotate the positive battery cable (1) to the upright position.
  4. Disconnect the positive battery cable (2).
  5. Remove the underhood bussed electrical center (UBEC) cover. Position the lower cover to the side.

    NOTE: The bolt is integral to the battery cable and is not removable.
  7. Remove the positive battery cable bolt at the UBEC.

  9. Unsnap the junction block cover.
  10. Remove the positive battery cable (1) from the junction block.

  12. Raise and suitably support the vehicle with safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  13. Remove the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement .
  14. Remove the positive battery cable channel bolt.
  15. Slide the channel pin out of the oil pan tab.
  16. Remove the positive battery cable from the channel.

  18. Remove the positive cable nut (1).
  19. Remove the positive cable from the starter.
  20. Remove the positive cable clip from the clip on the oil pan.
  21. Remove the positive cable from the clip on the oil pan.
  22. Remove the positive battery cable.
