Carburetor - MIKUNI 2-Bbl: Overhaul: Disassembly
NOTE:
DO NOT invert carburetor during disassembly, as accelerator pump check weight and ball and steel ball for anti-overfill device will fall out. On Excel, do not remove choke valves, choke levers and related parts, round nut from accelerator pump link, adjusting screws (except idle speed, idle mixture and dashpot), or throttle valves.
- Disconnect water hose from throttle body and choke chamber. Grind heads off choke cover lock screws and remove cover. If equipped, disconnect ground wire from fuel cut-off solenoid at cover assembly.
- Remove throttle return spring and damper spring. Remove vacuum hose from depression chamber and throttle body. Remove accelerator pump rod from throttle lever.
- Remove dashpot/idle up actuator rod (man. trans.) or idle up actuator rod (auto. trans.) from free lever. Remove actuator.
- Remove the deceleration, enrichment and jet mixture solenoid valves. Remove the depression chamber rod from the secondary throttle lever. Remove depression chamber. See Fig 2 .
- Remove 2 long float chamber cover screws, and remove throttle body. See Fig 3 . Remove 4 short screws, and remove float chamber cover from main body. Remove check weight and ball, and steel ball of anti-overfill device.
- Remove the float pin and float. Remove the screw, retainer and needle valve. Remove the accelerator pump and fuel cut-off solenoid. Do not remove other parts unless absolutely necessary. Do not remove throttle valves or touch adjusting screws or dashpot adjusting screws.
- Remove main jets from jet blocks. Use a screwdriver with proper blade for slot in jet. Remove pilot jet retainer and pilot jet. Remove accelerator pump mounting screws, pump cover and link assembly, diaphragm, spring, body and gasket from main body.
- Remove snap ring from sub-EGR control valve pin. Remove pin and link from valve. Remove little steel ball and spring from sub-EGR control valve. Remove sub-EGR valve from throttle body.
