Steering Column: Inspection
- Check steering shaft for runout. Runout should be .02" (.5 mm) or less. Check for worn or damaged bearing. Check steering shaft length.
- Steering shaft length should be 23.17" (588.5 mm). If measurement is less than specification, replace steering shaft. See Fig 1 .
- On intermediate shaft, check for play, noise or rough rotation in joints. Check dust cover for damage. Replace components as required.
