DESCRIPTION

Excel and Scoupe (1.5 MPI) equipped with automatic transaxle may have an engine stalling as soon as drive the vehicle just after the staring the engine. In order to clear this problem, a repair kit has been developed. This bulletin informs you of the service procedure for the repair kit.

NOTE: A repair kit contains modulator, extension harness, adapter and the 2 straps as shown in Fig. Fig 1 .

REPAIR KIT INSTALLATION LAY-OUT

Refer to Fig. Fig 2 for the kit installation layout.

SERVICE PROCEDURES

Turn off ignition key and disconnect the battery negative terminal. See Fig 3 .
Remove the side lower crash pad. See Fig 4 .
Remove the control relay. See Fig 5 .
Remove the relay box. See Fig 6 .
Remove the ECM protector.
Disconnect the ECM connector from the ECM.
Strap the modulator and the extension harness together as shown in Fig. Fig 7 .
Peel off the two-face adhesive tapes on the surface of the adapter and attach the adapter to the ECU. See Fig 8 .
Connect the extension harness, connectors (red-taped side) to the ECM and the control harness connectors to the adapter side of the repair kit.
Strap the extension harness, control harness and the adapter of repair kit together as shown in Fig. Fig 9 .
Re-install the relay box and control relay.
Re-install the side lower crash pad.
Re-connect the battery negative terminal and start the engine to check the connection completed.
