System Inspection

  1. Determine if vehicle is difficult to start when engine is hot. Check fuel pressure. See BASIC TESTING article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Ensure there are no fuel leaks. Determine if all injectors are operating properly.
  2. Inspect ECM power supply and ground circuits. Inspect MPI control relay. See SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. Inspect crankshaft position sensor and TDC sensor. See CODE 22 (CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR) and CODE 23 (TOP DEAD CENTER SENSOR).
