Airflow Sensor

On non-turbo models, hot film type sensor is mounted in intake hose between air cleaner and throttle body. Mass airflow rate is measured by amount of heat transfer from hot film probe. Change in temperature of probe controls resistance of circuit which ECM monitors.

On turbo models, AFS is mounted in intake hose. Operation of sensor is similar to non-turbo models. Instead of using hot film element, turbo AFS uses platinum wire sensor.
