DTC P1586 - Encoding Signal Circuit Out Of Range (A/T & M/T)
- Install scan tool. Start engine and check if DTC P1586 is present. If DTC is present, go to next step. If DTC is not present, problem is intermittent.
- Turn ignition off. Check circuit between switch and ECM terminal No. 72. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS section. Repair as necessary. If circuit or terminal is okay, check inhibitor switch. See SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS article. Replace as necessary. Clear DTC. See CLEARING DTC(S) . Retest system. If DTC resets, replace ECM.
