Fuel Level Sensor

  1. Remove fuel gauge sending unit from fuel tank. Connect a 12-volt, 3.4-watt test light between positive battery terminal and sending unit terminal No. 2. SeeFigure .
  2. Using jumper wire, connect sending unit terminal No. 5 to negative battery terminal. Test light should illuminate. Submerge sending unit thermistor (float) in water. Ensure test light goes off. Replace fuel gauge sending unit if results are not as specified.
